4th Annual Backpack Giveaway Event!

On Saturday, August 19th, WAMI will be hosting our 4th annual backpack giveaway event. Our event will be held at WAMI’s office in Bridgeport at 840b State Street, from 12 - 3 PM. We will be raising money to support our community, providing backpacks and other school supplies for families in need, organizing a voter registration drive, AND offering refreshments and a fun time for families and friends of WAMI. WAMI’s fundamental mission is to empower women, girls, and families who are justice-impacted by incarceration, trauma-survived, or seeking support. WAMI’s aim is to elevate, educate and empower women, girls, and families impacted by the criminal legal system and to end the incarceration of women and girls. We believe that empowerment comes from education, and that the young people of our community deserve every opportunity to receive their education, free from obstruction. Last year, we gave away 350 backpacks and supplies to our community, and this year, we want to surpass that goal.
